Course Overview
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Flight Operations is a three-year degree programme that prepares you for a wide range of roles across the global aviation industry. From aerodynamics and navigation to aviation safety and air traffic management, this programme gives you the technical knowledge, regulatory understanding, and practical skills to thrive in one of the world's most dynamic industries.
Programme Structure
The programme runs across nine semesters, with intake periods in January, June, and September. You'll progress through common core subjects, discipline-specific modules, and a specialisation pathway finishing with a Final Year Project that brings your learning together. The programme also includes an Aviation Industrial Training placement, giving you real-world exposure before you graduate.
What You'll Study
Your studies are structured across four key areas. The common core covers the technical and scientific foundations of aviation — including aerodynamics, electrical theory, aviation legislation, and human factors. The discipline core then builds on this with advanced subjects such as flight simulation, meteorology, aircraft performance, and digital instrument systems.
In your specialisation, you'll explore the operational and management side of aviation covering airline and airport management, aviation safety, crew resource management, dangerous goods handling, and aircraft accident investigation. You'll also choose one of two elective pathways: Aviation Management, covering topics like air transport economics and logistics, or Flight Management, which includes a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) track covering aviation law, visual flight rules, and flight performance planning.
Career Prospects
Graduates of this programme go on to work across a broad range of aviation roles, including:
